VenuWorks Selected to Operate ‘The Yard’

Keck Hired as General Manager

VenuWorks, an Iowa-based venue management company, has been hired by the City of Johnston (Iowa) to manage ‘The Yard’ in the Johnston Town Center.

Scheduled to open in the summer of 2021, the central green space, ‘The Yard’, will feature regular event programming including concerts, a splash pad, and a seasonal ice-skating rink. The Town Center Project is a public-private initiative to encourage redevelopment of Merle Hay Road at the intersection of NW 62nd Avenue to create a commercial center for the City of Johnston that will serve as a local destination for dining, shopping, and entertainment.

“The Johnston Town Center is a gathering space full of new opportunities for the City of Johnston. It is truly a privilege for VenuWorks to be a part of this development as the manager and event programmer of ‘The Yard’,” said Steve Peters, VenuWorks President.

“The City of Johnston is very excited to be working with VenuWorks to begin creating event programming for ‘The Yard’ in the Johnston Town Center for the coming years,” said Adam Plagge, Economic Development Manager. “VenuWorks has a proven track record in event management and will help create and attract iconic community events.”

VenuWorks has hired Quincy Keck as the General Manager in Johnston.

Keck holds degrees in Hospitality Leadership and Public Relations from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. She began her industry career as the Event Manager at the VenuWorks-managed Bridge View Center in Ottumwa, IA. Most recently, Keck served as the in-house Ungerboeck Event Trainer at the VenuWorks corporate office.

“I look forward to working with the City of Johnston and its stakeholders in the development of ‘The Yard’,” said Keck. “‘The Yard’ will provide an amazing backdrop for a wide-range of events the whole community can enjoy!”

VenuWorks has significant experience managing diverse entertainment venues that host community, regional, and national events. VenuWorks assumed pre-opening responsibilities of the venue and Keck started her new role on February 1st.
