VenuWorks Selected to Operate Renovated Amphitheater

Cannon Hired as Executive Director

Iowa-based venue management company VenuWorks has been hired by the city of Jefferson City, Missouri to operate the Ellis-Porter Riverside Amphitheater. VenuWorks has significant experience managing diverse entertainment venues that host community, regional, and national events.

“We are privileged to have been selected to work with the City of Jefferson City (MO) on the operation of its beautiful, new amphitheater. We are eager to bring new community, regional, and national entertainment to the Ellis-Porter Riverside Amphitheater this summer,” said Steve Peters, President of VenuWorks.

“When the process of renovating the 65 year-old amphitheater started, we knew we needed someone with venue management experience to help bring this unique venue to its full potential. We are delighted to have the VenuWorks team on board to make this happen. They will be instrumental in our efforts to provide a quality spectator experience for our residents and visitors and to support our talented local performing arts community,” said Todd Spalding, Director of Parks, Recreation & Forestry.

VenuWorks has hired industry veteran Lynn Cannon as the Executive Director in Jefferson City.

“We are very fortunate to have Lynn as the leader of our Jefferson City operation. Lynn’s experience will be an asset to the amphitheater and the community of Jefferson City,” said Peters.

After a decade in the industry, Cannon joined the management team that opened the United Center in Chicago in 1994. In 2000, Cannon was hired as the Director of Guest Relations and Entertainment for Arlington Park Racecourse, responsible for on-track entertainment and the hiring and training of part-time seasonal staff. Most recently, Cannon served as the Executive Director of the VenuWorks-managed Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, IL.

“I am thrilled to join the veteran talent at VenuWorks once again. I look forward to working with the staff of Jefferson City as we launch the inaugural season at the Ellis-Porter Riverside Amphitheatre,” said Executive Director Lynn Cannon.

Scheduled to open in the summer of 2021, the Ellis-Porter Riverside Amphitheater will accommodate over 500 reserved seats and approximately 2,000 general admission lawn seats.

VenuWorks assumed pre-opening responsibilities of the venue on January 1st. Cannon will begin her role on February 1st.
