VENUWORKS GETS MANAGEMENT GIG FOR PADUCAH CONVENTION CENTER

PADUCAH — Paducah-McCracken County Convention Center Corporation Board has made its choice for the third-party company that will run the convention center.

The board voted in favor of VenuWorks over the other company being considered, Spectra. The vote went 10 to two in VenuWorks’ favor.

Our crew at the meeting Thursday says almost everyone on the board said they felt VenuWorks fit better with Paducah’s culture and the events already held here. Board chairman Brian Katz said he preferred Spectra, saying he considered the company less of a risk. But, other board members also said they felt VenuWorks is a better fit because Spectra owns the Owensboro Convention Center, and it would be in competition with the Paducah Convention Center.

The board will begin contract negotiations with VenuWorks in the coming days.
