VenuWorks Locations Named Venues Today Midwest TopStops 2013

VenuWorks President, Steve Peters, is pleased to announce the inclusion of three VenuWorks locations in Venues Today TopStops Midwest 2013. The U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, ranked 3rd in venues with a capacity of 5,001-10,000: Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, ranked 7th in venues with a capacity of 2,000 or fewer: and The Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana, ranked 8th, in venues with a capacity of 10,001-15,000.

TopStops are based on concert and event grosses from January 1 – December 31, 2013 as reported to Venues Today.

In June 2013, the U.S. Cellular Center Arena re-opened its doors after 2 years of renovations, welcoming crowds for a concert headlining country superstars Lady Antebellum. In these six months, the U.S. Cellular Center and VenuWorks welcomed over 165,000 patrons for world-class concerts, family and comedy shows, and athletic events. Setting sales records in 2013 with shows like Ringling Bros Circus, Disney Live, Ron White, Florida Georgia Line, Korn, and Rob Zombie, the USCC closed out the year with an all-time revenue record-setting Harlem Globetrotters show. 2014 is off to just as strong of a start with sales records being set for the World’s Toughest Rodeo and Disney on Ice, further establishing the U.S. Cellular Center as the Iowa corridor’s leader in arena entertainment.

With its first full year of operation since the devastating 2008 flooding, 2013 brought several sellouts or near sellouts to the Paramount Theatre. Comedian Daniel Tosh sold out two shows while Bill Maher and Rodney Carrington played to near sellouts as did Spank!, the 50 Shades of Grey parody. Broadway at the Paramount subscribers enjoyed seven shows in the calendar year with full houses for Spamalot, Beauty and The Beast, Blue Man Group, Midtown Men, Rock of Ages, Under the Streetlamp and Mamma Mia. Several performances by Orchestra Iowa and Community Concerts also contributed to the Paramount’s success.

Ford Center has entertained over one (1) million patrons since opening in 2012. Four (4) sold out events were hosted in 2013: Luke Bryan, Winter Jam, Jason Aldean and Tom Petty. Other concerts included: Alan Jackson, Journey, World Championship Ice Racing Finals, Kid Rock, Neon Trees, Brit Floyd, Styx/REO/Ted Nugent, WWE, Barry Manilow, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rascal Flatts, Jeff Dunham, Bill Gaither, Zac Brown Band and several other family shows, exhibitions and sporting events such as NCAA Great Lakes Valley Conference tournaments, NCAA Division 1 University of Evansville Men’s & Women’s basketball and ECHL Evansville IceMen hockey.
