Koolbeck named Executive Director of Iowa State Center

Steve Peters, President of VenuWorks, announced today that Tammy Koolbeck, CFE will be the new Executive Director for the Iowa State Center. VenuWorks will assume management of the Center on August 1 and Koolbeck will assume her new position on August 10.IMG_9692

“We are delighted to have Tammy coming to Ames and the Iowa State Center. Her approach to working with clients and facility staff will work very well with the operations of these venues and our plans moving forward.” said Peters. “We will miss her leadership at the corporate office yet excited about this opportunity for her.”

Koolbeck comes to the Iowa State Center after having served VenuWorks in the corporate office for the last 10 years, most recently as Chief Marketing Officer/Senior Vice President. Prior to joining the VenuWorks corporate staff, she served as Assistant Executive Director of Marketing and Programming for the U.S. Cellular Center Arena/Paramount Theatre and General Manager of the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. She started in the public assembly management field in 1995 as the Director of Marketing for the Five Seasons Center and Paramount Theatre. Koolbeck’s past work experience includes hotel management, convention and visitor bureau sales and professional sports.

“Tammy brings many years of experience to the position,” said Warren Madden, Senior Vice President for Business and Finance at Iowa State University. “We are impressed with her background and knowledge and confident she will put that experience to good use to the benefit of the Center.”

Koolbeck was selected as a Woman of Influence from Venues Today in 2010 in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the venues industry. She was also honored by the Event and Arena Marketing Conference with the Gigi Award of Excellence, the highest honor awarded by the group. She is an active member of the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) and is currently serving as the Program Chair for IAVM’s annual conference, VenueConnect. She recently earned her Certified Facilities Manager (CFE) designation and was awarded the 2014 IAVM Chairman’s Citation for her volunteer work. Koolbeck is an active board member for the Event and Arena Marketing Conference where she served as the EAMC board president for five years.
