March 9, 2009 - Brookings Swiftel Center Installs New Marquee

Daktronics, Inc., recently manufactured and installed a new double-sided, full color outdoor display at the Swiftel Center.  Both entities are located in Brookings, S.D.  The Swiftel Center is managed by Venuworks of Ames, Iowa.

 

The project was an upgrade to existing equipment used for the center's highway marquee.  The sign measures 6 feet by 14 feet and features light emitting diode (LED) technology.  It will run prerecorded video, text, graphics and animations in full color for true-to-life image reproduction.

 

Daktronics and Swiftel Center have worked together on various community projects and corporate partnerships in the Brookings area.  The updated message board demonstrates the relationship they have forged.

 

"We chose Daktronics again, not only because it's in our community, but also because it's the world leader," said Swiftel Center Executive Director Tom Richter.   Daktronics is the world's largest supplier of large screen video displays.  "We're happy with the installation because such an eye-catching display will help improve our marketing efforts."

 

Since it opened in 2001, the Swiftel Center (www.swiftelcenter.com) has hosted concerts, motor sports, athletic events, meetings, conventions, receptions, rodeos, equestrian events and more.  It features a 30,000 square foot arena floor and 7,000 square foot banquet facility.

VenuWorks is well known for its success in providing full management services for arenas, theaters, and convention centers, which are primarily under the governance of municipalities, counties, colleges, and universities.  VenuWorks, headquartered in Ames, Iowa, serves 28 facilities in 15 communities in 11 states throughout the US.  It also manages food and beverage operations and provides event booking and promotion services.  VenuWorks also performs feasibility studies and consulting work for clients with existing and prospective public assembly facilities.
